If Today Was Your Last Day?

I have liked Nickelback since they first came out. I'm sure some of it has to do with the fact that they are Canadian and while I love being an American, I've always had a "thing" for Canadians.

Anyways -that could be a series of posts all its own- I recently came across their song "If Today Was Your Last Day". I never listen to the radio anymore thanks to my iPod. But I downloaded it and I love it!

It's probably striking me more due to my life's current events. But even without all that, it has a fabulous message. So I wanted to share the lyrics with you. If you have never heard it, go find it on Amazon or iTunes and give it a whirl.

If Today Was Your Last Day ~Nickelback

My best friend gave me the best advice
He said each day's a gift and not a given right

Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind
And try to take the path less traveled by
That first step you take is the longest stride

If today was your last day and tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last
Leave old pictures in the past?
Donate every dime you had, if today was your last day?

What if, what if, if today was your last day?

Against the grain should be a way of life
What's worth the price is always worth the fight
Every second counts 'cause there's no second try
So live like you're never living twice
Don't take the free ride in your own life

If today was your last day and tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past?
Donate every dime you had?
And would you call those friends you never see?
Reminisce old memories?
Would you forgive your enemies?
And would you find that one you're dreaming of?
Swear up and down to God above
That you'd finally fall in love if today was your last day?

If today was your last day
Would you make your mark by mending a broken heart?
You know it's never too late to shoot for the stars
Regardless of who you are
So do whatever it takes'
Cause you can't rewind a moment in this life

Let nothing stand in your way
'Cause the hands of time are never on your side

If today was your last day and tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past?
Donate every dime you had?
And would you call those friends you never see?
Reminisce old memories?
Would you forgive your enemies?
And would you find that one you're dreaming of
Swear up and down to God above
That you'd finally fall in love if today was your last day

What would *you* do if today was *your* last day?

  1. I just stumbled across your blog this morning, and I am already so connected with you that it's unreal!

I adore this song, and Nickelback! It has wonderful meaning and the words ring so very true.

I have a son who was diagnosed at 13 months of age with a rare metabolic disorder and kidney disease (Cystinosis and Fanconi's Syndrome). He had a kidney tranplant in December of 2006, just before Christmas.

His name is Koby, and here is his story

Your little Noah is so precious. He reminds me a lot of Koby when he was a wee little one.

I'm looking forward to connecting with you. I'm following you on friend connect, as well as twitter.

Keep up the great blogging, Crystal. Your story needs to be heard! :o)

  2. I had these lyrics on facebook the other day. I love the message, too.

Can't wait to see you tomorrow...what time? I have to be home by 10 because Josh has to work. Goodness...a curfew at 27 years old...
